Journaling: A Key to Discovering Your Individuality

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well” (Psalm 139:14, ESV).
You are a unique individual. As such, it is important to know what makes you “you”. By understanding and knowing the gifts and abilities that contribute to your individuality, you will be able to develop and grow those and then in turn bless others with your talents and abilities.
When you journal, take the time to:
- Reflect on the tasks you like to do throughout the day both at home and at work
- Make a list of topics you want to learn more about
- Understand where and when you concentrate best
The above is only the beginning of the many ways you can use your journal as a key to knowing the skills that are unique to you.
Just as different skills, abilities, and gifts make each person unique, so, too, can your individuality as a journal writer show through in your journal by such things as:
- Whether you write fast or slow
- Whether you use different ink colors throughout your journal to denote ideas, action steps, questions, etc.
- Whether you write in bullet form or full sentences
As you journal, make the effort to get to know the unique and wonderful individual that you are, just like you are taking the time to make your journal one-of-a-kind.
Journaling Prompts:
- Do you know what your gifts, abilities, and skills are? How do you know?
- What tasks and activities – both at home and at work – do you enjoy doing?
- What would you like to spend more, or less, time doing each day? Each week? Each month?
