Journaling: A Different Perspective
“Set your mind on things that are above, not on things that are on earth” (Colossians 3:2 ESV).
Have you ever gone on a hike and as you climbed higher and higher, you enjoyed more views of the valley below, providing a different perspective on what is below?
The same can be said of journaling. As you write in your journal your thoughts and feelings about things that happen day-to-day as well as your ideas and goals for the future, you are taking the time to see things from a new perspective and be renewed with hope. How?
First, you are slowing down and taking the time to write out what is on your mind. Second, it is often through writing that solutions seem to present themselves. And third, journaling short- and long-term goals can present new ways of viewing things.
When you need to step back and see things from a different perspective, remember to make time to journal. It will help by giving you a fresh viewpoint on your thoughts and events taking place.
Journaling Prompts:
- Where do you go to get a new persepective – on a hill, on a mountain, or by a lake?
- What do you do to have a fresh take on things? Do you go for a hike, go for a walk, go for a run, listen to music, or something else?
- How has journaling helped renew your hope and see things from a different perspective?
